Death Touch - Is it real or a myth?

Is the Death Touch real or a myth?

The Death Touch or Dim Mak can be traced back thousands of years to Traditional Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture. It is said that Dim Mak techniques are attacks to pressure points and vital points, which can cause illness and / or delayed or immediate death.

So is Dim Mak real and do we learn it at Cobra Martial Arts? The Dim Mak (not Big Mac which some say can also cause illness and death) has been shrouded in secrecy, however more recently medical research and neuroscience has provided evidence that the Dim Mak does effect the nervous and cardiovascular systems and is in fact real and lethal.

It has also been found that Dim Mak techniques have been hidden by martial arts masters of the past in traditional kata, the same ones practiced by advanced level students of Cobra Martial Arts.

There is speculation that the true cause of death of the legendary Bruce Lee (the famous movie star and founder of the freestyle martial art Jeet Kune Do) in 1973 was actually caused by a delayed reaction to a Dim Mak strike he received several weeks prior to his collapse. More on how Bruce Lee died in the next issue of the Cobra Martial Arts E-newsletter.

At Cobra Martial Arts, pressure point and vital point techniques are taught, but for obvious reasons, reserved for senior Master level adult students of fourth degree black belt and above.

Just as martial arts and pressure point attacks can cause serious injury, a true master also knows how to heal and reverse the effects of a pressure point attack. Isn't it interesting that Senior Instructor Aubrey Monie, owns and operates three physiotherapy practices which also specialise in acupuncture and acupressure.
